Overview

What Is Crowns & Bridges?

When a tooth is too damaged for a filling, cracked, broken, severely decayed, or weakened after root canal treatment a crown is the restoration that protects it. A crown fits over the entire tooth from the gum line up, restoring its strength, shape, and appearance.

A bridge serves a different purpose: replacing a missing tooth by anchoring to the teeth on either side of the gap, with a false tooth suspended in between. The result is a fixed, natural-looking replacement that requires no surgery.

At The Dental Atelier, we use high-quality zirconia and ceramic restorations that match natural tooth colour and transmit light in a similar way to enamel. Dr. Aatika selects the right material for each case based on location, bite forces, and aesthetics.

Who Is Crowns & Bridges
Designed For?

Crowns and bridges at The Dental Atelier by Dr Aatika in DHA Phase 2 Islamabad use high-quality zirconia and ceramic restorations matched to natural tooth colour. A crown is the right choice when a tooth is too damaged for a filling; a bridge when one or two adjacent teeth are missing and implants are not preferred.

  • Teeth that are cracked, broken, or severely decayed

  • Teeth following root canal therapy that need protection

  • One or two missing teeth in a row that qualify for a bridge

  • Heavily worn teeth from grinding or acid erosion

  • Anyone wanting a durable, natural-looking fixed restoration

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do dental crowns last?

+

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, dental crowns typically last 10 to 15 years or longer. Zirconia crowns are particularly durable under normal biting forces.

Does getting a crown hurt?

+

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so you should not feel pain during preparation. Some sensitivity around the gum is normal for a few days after the appointment.

What is the difference between a crown and a bridge?

+

A crown covers and protects a single existing tooth. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to the teeth on either side of the gap, with a false tooth suspended in between.

Is a bridge or an implant better for a missing tooth?

+

An implant is generally the preferred long-term option as it does not require altering adjacent teeth. A bridge is a fixed, non-surgical alternative that may suit patients who are not implant candidates or prefer a quicker solution.
